Dr. McManus grew up here in the Saint Louis area. She was active in sports and always had a love for animals. She often accompanied her parents to the veterinarian when their family pets were in need of care.
Dr. McManus attended the University of Missouri- Columbia for her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry. Her initial focus was in human medicine but it wasn’t long into her undergrad career that she found drawn back to animals. In her sophomore year of undergraduate studies her focus turned from premed to pre-vet. During this time, she volunteered to work at several clinics in the St. Louis area over summer vacations and holiday breaks. This solidified her choice to pursue a career advocating and caring for the animals in our lives.
She graduated from the University of Missouri- Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010 and moved back to her roots in Saint Louis where she started her family. Her career began at the Animal Medical Center of MidAmerica where she developed her love of surgery and small animal internal medicine. As a new graduate she was able to hone her surgery skills in a high volume spay/neuter/dental setting and was still able to see complex medical cases on non surgical days. In 2014 she took over the surgical department at the Chesterfield Valley location of AMCMA. It was during our time at the AMCMA that she and Dr. Callaway began practicing together.
Dr. McManus had an opportunity to begin practicing at The Pet Doctor in 2017. This change to a smaller private practice fostered an opportunity to grow more specific skill sets and challenged her to improve her medicine and surgery. Dr. Callaway and Dr. McManus continued to grow a collaboration and love for high quality medicine during this time.
O’Fallon Animal Hospital is the culmination of her career to this point. It is her goal to continue to provide gold standard medical and surgical care in an environment that supports a cooperative effort with owners. Dr. McManus’ professional interests include small animal soft tissue surgery and dentistry along with internal medicine and emergent care.
Outside of her life as a veterinarian, Dr. McManus spends her time keeping up with her four young children. She also enjoys living an active life as a triathlete and signs up for any race that will challenge both her body and mind.
